Greater Napanee has beefed up its fire protection for the non-hydrant rural areas within an eight kilometre radius of the town.
The residents within the eight kilometres of a fire station and businesses that are located within five kilometres will benefit from this new system.
Deputy fire chief Kevin Donaldson says the plan has involved training and new systems.
Residents in the areas affected may be eligible for reduced property insurance rates.
Donaldson says they should contact their insurance providers.
