Colonel Russell Williams, the former commander of CFB Trenton facing murder and sexual assault charges, received regular updates on the police investigation that would lead months later to his arrest. More than 100 pages of emails obtained by the Toronto Star show that word of Corporal Marie France Comeau’s murder reached her alleged killer’s inbox shortly after midnight on Nov. 26th….one day after her body was found in her home in Brighton. The 37-year old was a flight attendant at CFB Trenton and served aboard the same military VIP flights Williams piloted for much of the 1990s. Williams received briefings on the latest details of the police probe. He gathered emails from the same military police investigators who would later participate in his arrest and prosecution. One of the documents released is Williams’ letter of condolence to the Comeau family, offering help during this “very difficult time.” His arrest in February in two slayings, including that of Comeau, shook the military to its core.
