A Port Perry man who killed a motorcyclist on Highway seven near Kaladar, has been sentenced to four years in prison.
Fofty-seven-year-old William Spears, who was convicted on December 21st of criminal negligent driving causing bodily harm and criminal negligent driving causing death, was sentenced in Kingston Superior Court yesterday.
Thirty-seven-year-old Scott Millar of Almonte was struck and killed while driving his motorcycle ten kilometres west of Kaladar on August 16th, 2006. Millar’s wife, Sharon Toop-Millar was injured when Spears’ driving forced her to crash her motorcycle just moments after Millar was hit. Spears was also given a 15-year driving prohibition, and was ordered to provide a sample to the National D-N-A Data Bank.
