The next wave of Canadian soldiers will be making their way from Petawawa this afternoon….and, as they do….residents of Tweed will be waving flags in support of our troops. In what has become a tradition….the members of the Royal Canadian Regiment, 3rd Battalion Battle Group, make one last stop in Tweed before boarding the Kandahar-bound airbus at CFB Trenton. The first platoons shipped out last Friday and other flights are scheduled to leave for Afghanistan over the next few weeks. Their departure schedule was delayed for a week because of the volcanic ash cloud hanging over Europe. The buses are due to arrive in Tweed today at 1 o’clock.
