Sentencing has been delayed until later this summer for two men who dumped industrial waste sludge from the Trenton Norampac plant onto agricultural land south of Frankford. Ronald Charlton of Cannifton and a Tillsonburg man pleaded guilty, earlier this month, to illegally dumping 69 loads of the sludge into trenches in the 50-acre property off Harrington Road in the summer of 2007. Another 262 loads were dropped at an illegal dump in Tillsonburg. The sludge contained significant quantities of dioxins, furans and heavy metals. The Ministry of Environment is seeking jail time.
