In the grand scheme of things….for a nearly 100-million dollar city budget…..an extra 50-thousand dollars for repairs to the Belleville Police Service headquarters seems like a drop in the bucket. but, that extra 50-thousand has been the major sticking point in the 2010 budget deliberations. Council, earlier this month, sent the budget back for the Chief of Police and staff to reconsider….but the same request is making its way back to council this afternoon. Police Service Board Chair Bob Dolan says they have put forward a very fiscally responsible budget and there is no room for further reductions. Meanwhile, Council and staff are expected to pass the tax rates at today’s meeting which gets underway at 4:30 at City Hall.
