The Belleville Police Service Board is sending its budget back to City Council with the 50-thousand dollars needed for emergency repairs at police headquarters included. Chair Bob Dolan told today’s Police Service Board meeting that the money is needed for electrical upgrades, a leaky roof and other necessary repairs. A frustrated Police Chief Cory McMullan says there’s no way to cut the budget further and and calls the headquarters despicable and a disgrace. Meanwhile, Mayor Neil Ellis says construction of a new police station will likely begin in two years. He says the new Fire Hall is slated for this year and a new police headquarters for 2012.
