A Belleville woman has been fined four-thousand dollars on Ontario Fire Code charges.
Patricia McAvoy pleaded guilty in Belleville Provincial Court to three charges related to portable fire extinguishers, fire alarm systems and smoke detectors. The charges were laid by the Belleville Fire Prevention Bureau last April after deficiencies were found at a boarding house she co-owns at 3-88 Bridge Street East. Charges against McAvoy’s son, John Murphy, a co-owner of the home, were dropped. The residence has since been converted back to a single-family home.
