It’s a school of higher learning….and higher salaries too. Over three dozen names on the sunshine list at Loyalist College. A total of 38 people made at least 100-thousand dollars at Loyalist in 2009. The highest paid was College President Maureen Piercy, at 241-thousand, while Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer Allan Ross was next at 171-thousand.
The Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board had 83 employees make over 100 thousand dollars in 2009. Ranking high on the list was Superintendent of Financial and Facility Services, David Rutherford, with over 147 thousand. Tying second place were Superintendents Robert McGall and Janice Montgomery both raking in almost 150 thousand. And topping the list with 187 thousand dollars was Director of Education Kathryn Soule.
Quinte Healthcare had 30 people on the sunshine list. Former President and CEO of QHC, Bruce Laughton, wrapped up his retirement year with almost 270 thousand dollars. And at the top was Medical Director, Dr. Greg Twemlow taking home almost 305 thousand dollars.
The sunshine list for the Hastings and Prince Edward Counties Health Unit was just over half a dozen. Seven people made over 100 thousand dollars in 2009 and the highest paid was Dr. Richard Shabas, taking home nearly 220 thousand dollars and collecting almost 11 and a half thousand in benefits!
Two people made salaries of over one-hundred thousand dollars in Stirling-Rawdon Township last year, both police officers. Chief Brian Foley earned 131-thousand, and Sergeant Colin Cook was paid 102-thousand.
