The plan to renovate the Hastings County building in Belleville…and move all departments into the headquarters facility has been put on hold. Originally the court facilities were to move out when the lease expired at the end of last December. The county has now reached a deal with the province on an extended lease, allowing the courts to stay-put, until June 2014. Administrator Jim Pine says the new lease, increased by four-dollars per square foot, will pay any extra costs involved with keeping the 100-employees at off-site locations for another few years. The province will build a new Quinte Regional courthouse on a Coleman street site in Belleville.
