Good news at the Quinte Mohawk School on Tyendinaga Territory which has had drinking water problems over the past couple of years.
A “boil water” advisory, in place for the past two years, has been lifted. Health Canada has confirmed that water samples from the school have tested at “Good Quality” levels. The Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte band council has been installing a proper system for the school over a number of months and the final tests have been good. Health Canada officials say water testing will be conducted at Quinte Mohawk School on a regular basis by the Ontario Clean Water Agency. Those results will be provided to both Health Canada and the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte.
