A large crowd gathered at Kindess Court at Quinte Mall to mark the start of Random Acts of Kindness Week. Police Chief Cory McMullan acknowledged the recent violent crimes in the community…but, noted how the community has come together in the face of the recent murders. Christine MacDoanld, whose son Mark Fyke was shot and killed while on vactaion in Daytona Beach 14-years ago, led a candlelight vigil to honour the people who have been slain in senseless acts of violence. Blue ribbons marking the special week will be visible and teams of volunteers will be carrying out random acts of kindness and visiting schools spreading the message during the week-long campaign.
