It’s nice to have a beach right in town, but officials in Tweed would like it better if they could make it weedless. Reeve Joanne Albert says “weedless” may not be possible, but less weeds would do. She says people passing through the town want to enjoy the beach but often turn away. Albert wants to meet with the Ministry fo Natural Resources and Quinte Conservation to see what can be done to improve the situation. Meanwhile Tweed has signed a contract with Friends of Stoco Lake to harvest the weeds three times this summer…under provincial regulations that can’t begin until after July first.
