Up to 75 new green jobs could be created as a result of a change in direction at the controversial Richmond Landfill site. Waste Management, the company that operates the site in Greater Napanee, announced plans for a mutli-million dollar waste management facility yesterday. Manager Randy Harris says the Beechwood Road Environmental Centre will have both diversion and recycling operations. The public consultation and provincial environmental assessment process could take up to a year. The present Richmond Landfill, subject of opposition by Tyendinaga Township and Tyendinaga Territory, is expected to close in about 2 years.
