Trent Hills council is making it a lot more difficult for a company planning a composting facility in Warkworth.
Council voted unanimously in favour of an interim control bylaw, putting a freeze on the development of composting facilities within the municipality for one year, while officials conduct a review and put policies in place. Planning director Jim Peters told council the bylaw has been used in the past when council dealt with factory farms and group homes. It will block a proposal by Bio Balance Fertilizers to locate a composting facility at the former Warkworth Cheese Factory.
