Residents of a Belleville east end subdivision are looking for some concrete assurance that large buildings will not be built near their homes. The city rejected an application from First Pentecostal Church to build two buildings, one of them a three-storey, adjacent to the Stanley Park subdivison. Resident spokesman Ted Ryczko says residents now want a “legal covenant” to ensure a compromise that would provide a 15-metre green space buffer and a one-storey building in the next 50-metres. The developer’s lawyer Steve Weese says his client is willing to agree with whatever the city decides, a zoning bylaw or a legal covenant. Weese says the Ontario Municipal Board may end up acting as a conciliator for the two sides.
