The Southeast Local Health Integration Network says criticism of LHINs at a recent Toronto conference doesn’t apply here. A number of critics told the Rural Ontario Municipalities Association that the LHINs were not meeting their mandates across Ontario and do not listen to the community. Chair of the Southeast LHIN, Georgina Thompson says the local agency has worked closely with the community and has met its mandate regarding oversight of funding . She says funding issues may not always make everyone happy but theLHIN must ensure that the agencies and hospitals balance their budgets. Thompson says she will be meeting soon with municipal leaders regardng the recently approved service plan.
