An ovation for Brighton Council for its due diligence in dealing with a controversial gravel pit near Codrington. St. Mary’s Cement wants a quick resolution to its application to start extracting aggregate from below the water table at the White’s Road pit…..but, Brighton Council wants a peer review on the company’s hydrogeological study. The process could take up to 6-weeks…and, Mayor Chris Herrington says Council is asking the company to notify nearby property owners. Staff will bring back a report to council outlining the next steps for a public process…and, asked staff to determine a lifespan for the pit.
