Six new vehicles have been destroyed in a tractor-trailer fire north of Shannonville.
Tyendinga Township Fire Chief Stan Laton says the blaze started on the rear left side of the car carrier at 5-30 this morning on the 4-0-1, just east of Shannonville Road.
The driver was able to unhook the carrier, but six of the nine vehicles aboard were destroyed, and the carrier and tractor unit were damaged. Laton estimates the damage and loss at 300-thousand dollars.
Both eastbound lanes were closed for a while until the scene was cleared.
