A lot of Brighton residents want no part of the province’s Places to Grow Act..
Although the forum on Brighton’s growth management strategy was held to get comments on how to make the province’s program work locally, many residents complained about the plan, which limits growth to areas already built up.
Scott Anderson said a lot of the planning is going to come at a cost, and a lot of it would be absorbed by the landowner. Ontario Federation of Agriculture president Bette Jean Crews agreed, saying farmers can’t be saved just by preserving the land, adding the industry also has to be saved.
