Belleville City Council debates will soon be a lot clearer for people with hearing disabilities.
The city has purchased four special headsets for the hearing impaired…for use in the council chambers. They will be hooked up to the council microphones. Chair of the Accesssibility Advisory Committee, Councillor Garnet Thompson, says there are four sets…and the equipment can be booked ahead of time but it’s not necessary. Thompson says his committee will hold a second meeting with the deaf and hearing impaired community in the spring…similar to one held last fall.
