The former boss of murder suspect Colonel Russell Williams says he had a bright future.
Retired lieutenant-general Angus Watt says he considered Williams one of the military’s best and brightest, intelligent, calm, hardworking and dedicated. Watt says those are the qualities that led to his assignment as wing commander.
The former air force chief says Williams was selected both on the strength of his performance and his potential.
It was Watt who handed Colonel Williams command of the country’s largest air force base, C-F-B Trenton .
Williams was promoted to colonel early last year and assumed command of Eight Wing last July 15th. Watt says he has no reason to believe Williams wouldn’t have gone higher up the military ladder.
