Police detectives working the file are now reviewing all cold cases of missing and slain women at every military posting — including Canada’s secret base in the Middle East — at which Colonel Russell Williams has served during his 23-year career.
Residents of Trenton, and workers at Eight Wing, were at a loss yesterday to comment on allegations that one of the most respected members of the community had been carrying out a series of attacks that left two dead.
Base Carpenter Jake Elm said it was chaos because nobody expected their commander to be charged, adding it made him sick to his stomach and it put a real strain on military people. Marina McCulloch, who has lived on the base for five years, said she was pretty much shocked with disbelief.
