That deer in distress on Rawdon Creek in Stirling is apparently okay.
The animal spent most of yesterday in a flooded patch of ground near Mill Street. However, Deputy Fire Chief Rick Caddick says the deer was finally either hauled to safety or spooked off the creek by a group of local residents last evening, and it ran away. He says the fire department stuck to its policy of not getting involved because of the possible risk to its members, and he was concerned private citizens, with limited rescue abilities, went out on the ice.
