Quinte West residents signed up with the city’s emergency noficiation system can expect a phone call over the next month.
Seventy-six per cent of the PRISM 911 database was verified early last year, and Planning Manager Ed Woods says people contacted over the next four weeks will be asked for their address, name and phone number.
He says the system will call someone again in a few days who doesn’t answer the questions or hangs up, and anyone not registered or with an unlisted phone number is asked to give it to the city. Quinte West has used the PRISM program twelve times since January, 2008, and has saved over 60-thousand dollars by not having to have municipal staff go door to door each time there was an emergency or public concern.
