Work continues on providing a large system wide electronic medical records system for this part of Ontario.
E Health Ontario has provided just over 2 million dollars in funding to the Southeast Local Health Integration network for work on projects to electronically link family doctors and family health teams with hospitals, and Community Care Access Centers.
It’s hoped within 5 years, hospital, or family doctor’s notes, x-rays, and other patient information will be instantly available to any healthcare provider from Brighton to Prescott, and north to Bancroft. Electronic records are expected to save on paper costs, and more importantly, speed up access to medical services, for patients.
