Rock for Relief II – a fundraiser to benefit the victims of the earthquake in Haiti – was a big success.
Officials estimate last night’s (SAT) event raised $55, 000 for Haitian relief efforts by the Red Cross (when combined with the federal government’s matching pledge) through concert ticket sales, the silent auction at intermission and donations from the community at large.
Performers included CJBQ’s Freddie Vette and the Empire Theatre’s Andy Forgie.
A final tally of monies raised is expected later today.
