An almost seven percent wage increase for a group of unionized Hastings County employees in a new contract.County Council approved the three-year deal, retroactive to January first, 2009, when it met today, following up a ratification vote by the OPSEU Local 4-96 members on January 18th. County C-A-O Jim Pine says the workers will get two per cent salary hikes in both the first and second years and 2.75 per cent in the third year, totalling 6.75 per cent.. The deal also includes benefit, contract language and vacation improvements. The 160 employees, whose previous contract expired at the end of 2008, are mostly members of the county’s social services department.
