Another debit card scam has hit the Quinte Region…..this time in the Trenton area.Several callers to our newsroom say they were victims of a compromised PIN number…but, fortunately for many…their banking institutions…quickly caught the transaction and stopped them. Hundreds of people weren’t so lucky. OPP Sergeant Kristine Rae says the scam involves debit cards from a number of banking institutions…and, in some cases the bank accounts were drained. A similar case occured at a Bell Boulevard business in Belleville last year.
