Today Belleville city council will decide whether or not to put security cameras on the city streets in the downtown core as it continues its capital budget debate. Police Chief Cory McMullan says they would address “criminal hotspots of criminal activity” making the downtown safer. Chief McMullan says there are many hi-tech ooptions that can detect suspicious crowds and possible criminal car-entries. The Downtown Business Improvement area would pay 50-thousand dollars of the 150-thousand dollar cost kof the 15-cameras…with another 50-thousand coming from the facade program. Two extra mobile could be used for monitoring the flood situation in the Foxboro area.
