About half of the 40 non union employees of Prince Edward County are receiving raises, some of them fairly large ones. Prince Edward County Council has upped the salary grids for 21 non union jobs after comparing salary scales in 10 other similar communities. Prince Edward has been losing staff to other municipalities, and has been having trouble hiring new staff, and the problem was seen as low salaries. Councillor Peter Mertens says the increases will not make County salaries the richest around. Averaged out across the 21 positions, the average increase was 4 percent. Total cost to the budget for the raises?? 129 thousand dollars.
