The Lower Trent Conservation is advising residents of the Lower Trent River Region – an area stretching from Quinte West to Grafton and from Lake Ontario to Rice Lake – to be cautious of rising water levels this weekend. Unseasonably high temperatures combined with up to 30 mm of rainfall is expected Sunday through Monday. And with frozen ground conditions, water levels and flows are expected to increase along local streams and creeks in the region due to the runoff from rainfall and snowmelt. The public – including parents and caregivers of small children – are urged to stay away from all waterways as unstable ice, slippery stream banks and frigid open water conditions are very dangerous.
