The battle over whether or not a Belleville property will get an adult entertainment license is not over. Late last year Belleville adopted an interim bylaw that froze strip clubs in the city, thereby denying Carlos Moniz the application to operate such a club at the former Doc’s Palace on Station Street. Now Maria Moniz has launched an appeal of that action to the Ontario Municipal Board. Mayor Neil Ellis says the city will defend its position… Eventually the city intends to take adult entertainment out of the bylaws and put it into the planning zones, which could affect the two present operations.
