The water is safe to drink and use despite a diesel fuel spill into Rawdon Creek in Stirling.
The Ministry of Environment and a cleanup company were called after 800 to one-thousand litres of fuel was accidently pumped out of a tank at Stirling Creamery yesterday morning. Ministry Official Michel Finn says the ministry’s safe drinking water branch determined there was no impact on the municipal water supply.
It is believed much of the fuel could have stuck on to the ice, and the work focussed on cleaning the ice. Finn says there is no decision yet on whether environmental charges will be laid.
