Government workers at the Quinte Detention Centre in Napanee and 30 other jails across Ontario have been banned from the Internet at work.
The Correctional Service Ministry imposed the sweeping cyber blackout because of, according to a Ministry Official, several incidents of improper use, but he wouldn’t elaborate..
He also wouldn’t say if disciplinary proceedings were launched.
It is alleged employees have been caught accessing pornography, managing private sales on the online auction site eBay and monitoring social networking profiles on sites such as Facebook.
