Unionized Hastings County employees have voted 87 per cent in favour of strike action if necessary.
Ontario Public Service Employees Union official Dianne Dejong released the results of Tuesday night’s vote this morning, saying 118 of the 184 union members cast ballots.
She says there was some movement by both sides when conciliation talks for a new contract involving the union and county management began yesterday, but she couldn’t elaborate, and conciliation will continue tomorrow. The employees have been working under the terms of their old contract since it expired at the end of 2008.
