The union representing nearly 200-workers at Hastings County took a strike vote last night. This move comes as the Ontario Public Service Employees Union and the county go to conciliation, beginning today. Local OPSEU President Diane Dejong says the county has rejected two union proposals over the past year and “has shown little interest in bargaining.” County administrator Jim Pine would make no comment other than to say he “hopes conciliation works.” The last contract expired at the end of December, 2008. No negotation details have been released yet.
