Anglers are flocking to frozen waterways and lakes west of Trenton, and north into the Kawarthas, taking advantage of new fishing regulations. The ice huts started going up on New Years Day, with the introduction of the year-round pan fish season. Natural Resources Ministry Official Jamie Prentice says even though it has been cold at night, ice conditions may not be the best, and anglers should check before venturing out. He says the busiest area has been the Chemong Causeway near Peterborough, although lots of huts have also been spotted on Rice Lake, west of Campbellford.
