It’s becoming a sadly familiar ritual — Canadians lining the gates at C-F-B Trenton and Ontario’s Highway of Heroes to pay their respects to fallen Canadian soldiers.
Hundreds braved bitter cold and snow to be there as five hearses carrying the bodies of four Canadian soldiers and a Calgary journalist made their way from Eight Wing to Toronto.
Sergeants George Miok and Kirk Taylor, Corporal Zachery McCormack, Private Garrett Chidley, and Calgary Herald reporter Michelle Lang were killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan last Wednesday.
The 34-year-old Lang received the same repatriation honours and salute as the soldiers.
