The Parrott Foundation is making a 50-thousand dollar donation to the stalled Belleville-Hastings County archives project. Orland French of the Hastings County Historical Society says is for computer equipment and office furniture to preserve the archives. but, the problem still exists with Belleville City Council. The City and Hastings County purchased the old Irish Hall on Church Street, earlier this fall, but, City Council shocked the Historical Society, last week, by turning down a proposal to hire an archivist which is needed to plan the design and upkeep of the archives. The salary of between 60-and-73 thousand dollars would be split 50-50 with the County.
