A Northumberland O-P-P officer isn’t giving up, even though his first attempt to get funding for a portable children’s safety village is over.
Constable Chris Dewsbury’s submission to the Aviva Community Fund contest finished 35th out of 62 semifinalists across the country, with 10,700 online votes, when ballot counting ended yesterday.
Even though Aviva wasn’t successful, since the entry had to finish in the top 25 to advance to the next round, he will look into other funding alternatives, like corporate sponsorships and service clubs.
Dewsbury says the safety village, which could be moved from one site to another, is a great way to teach children about traffic lights and stop signs .
