The Ministry of Natural Resources has taken over the investigation of the shooting of a tame deer north of Madoc.
Central Hastings O-P-P began gathering information after the deer, who had become a pet for residents in the community, was killed near Cooper on December first by a hunter who shot it from a vehicle and then drove away.
A Cobourg man, whose name hasn’t been released, is under investigation for various hunting offences.
