A stressed out deer stressed out a lot of people driving along the Trent River between Frankford and Trenton on the weekend….but all’s well that ends well. The deer had itself trapped in frazzle ice on the Trent, just south of Frankford since sometime Saturday. The Quinte West Fire Department determined it could be too risky to try and save it, however, a citizen went out there in an aluminum boat on his own, and the fire department decided to take action yesterday afternoon. Some 25 firefighters from Frankford, Batawa, and North Murray, cut some brush down along the shore, and hauled their rescue boat out and made for the deer. Then, the deer jumped into open water, swam for shore, ran across the highway, bounding into the bush, probably much relieved, as was everyone else.
