A drop in the unemployment rate in Hastings-Prince Edward and other parts of Eastern Ontario, as more job hunters quit looking.
Statistics Canada says the rate in the two counties, along with Lennox and Addington, Frontenac and Renfrew counties, was 7.7 per cent last month, down from 7.9 in October.
However, 207-thousand people were working or looking for work, down by five-and-a-half-thousand people in one month, with some of those losing employment not even bothering to try to find work.
Last month’s 7.7 per cent unemployment rate was 2.2 per cent higher than in November, 2008.
