The big expansion at Saint Michael’s Catholic School on Church Street in Belleville is underway..
A building permit for the six-and-a-half-million dollar project, including extensive renovations and facility improvements, was issued at City Hall last month, and Mirtren Contractors of Trenton has begun work at the site.
A permit for a new three-million-dollar e-coli vaccine production area at Bioniche Life Sciences on Dundas Street East was also approved in November. The projects are the two largest of 53 given the green light last month for work valued at 12.4-million dollars. There has been 60.6-million dollars in building activity in Belleville so far this year, compared to 54-million in all of 2008.
