The suspected murder weapon was presented as evidence at the Michelle Barnoski murder trial in Peterborough yesterday. The Northumberland News reports a rifle retrieved from a Hope Township creek along with bullets and fragments retrieved from the 33-year-old Warkworth woman’s body were also shown to the jury. Jurors have already heard the boy, charged with first degree murder, told police he saw his co-accused, Marc Vickers, throw the gun into the creek after Barnoski went missing. Both are charged with first-degree murder. Barnoski was reported missing in May of last year and her body was found two weeks later buried in her backyard. Barnoski was shot several times in the head and also sustained blunt force trauma.
