Deer hunters are coming home from the hunt in Quinte and North Hastings a little less happy this year.
Ministry of Natural Resources spokesman Jamie Prentice says there are no proven scientific reasons for it yet, but hunters are harvesting fewer animals than in previous years.
He believes the mild weather has produced an abundant food supply, meaning the deer are staying deep in the woods and not venturing out looking for food.
Prentice also says the deer populations may have been reduced by larger numbers than normal by last year’s harsh winter weather.
