The Chief of the Bay of Quinte Mohawks wants to know where a Belleville Councillor is getting his information. Chief R Don Maracle says Bob Dolan’s remarks at this week’s Belleville Council meeting are incorrect regarding a former dumpsite on the Tyendinaga Territory. Th Chief says the Mohawks stopped sending their garbage to the dump on the Territory in 2004…and, the landfill site was capped in 2007 at a cost of 1.9-million dollars. Chief Maracle says Councillor Dolan’s comments are incorrect. Dolan got the rest of council to agree to withhold its support of the closure of the Richmond Landfill near Napanee until the Tyendinaga dump was closed.
