The city of Belleville is a little concerned about what kind of deal it will make with Rogers Cable Communications for digging up the streets and sidewalks to lay its cable. Mayor Neil Ellis says there’s “huge money” in fibre optics and he wanted to know if the city could benefit. And Councillor Bob Dolan says he wants to know if Rogers is getting this for free or should it pay for city staff time during the negotiations. Rogers wants to lay some cable between the CPR line and McNabb Towers where it has a tower on the roof. In the end City Council tabled the agreement until it could get some legal advice.
