The municipality of Tweed is taking a closer look at how it can avoid excess building materials being dumped it its landfill. Reeve Joanne Albert says some contractors who live in Tweed, but work on jobs outside the municipality, may be dumping materials from those jobs. Reeve Albert says identification cards had been discussed by the town council, but this would not answer the question of waste from outside, dumped by residents of Tweed. A recent study gave the landfill site a possible lifetime of 18-years.
